The Inescapable Truth

December 2022

A vertical intervention within the landscape sat in Wisbech, a market town in Cambridgeshire. The tower acts as social commentary on the impending risks of rising sea levels and the increasing frequency of destructive flooding which is affecting this area, as it is elsewhere. The extensive site intervention brings the effects of the river close to the public eye via the frequent 'controlled' flooding of the newly formed public space. The tower itself is a journey through time starting from the formation of the 'Fens' to a viewpoint looking out across the landscape to view what will be lost if 'The Great Flood' is allowed to occur. It acts as an indicator of the inevitable if we continue to progress the way we are.
